Our Service
Our Cancer service is offered Free to Maori clients with Cancer and their whanau (at different stages of their cancer journey) within the Counties Manukau region.
Te Kupenga o Hoturoa PHO’s Cancer Coordinator Nurse works collaboratively with Counties Manukau District Health Board (CMDHB) Cancer Doctors and nurses who are based at Middlemore Hospital.
The Cancer Coordinator Nurse visits clients both in hospital and at home with the aim of coordinating appropriate health services within an appropriate timeframe.
Is this you?
- Are you receiving treatment for cancer?
- Have you received abnormal test results which may indicate cancer conditions?
- Have you received a confirmed diagnosis?
- Do you need help with advanced cancer?
- Does your GP suspect a possible cancer condition and has indicated some follow up (i.e. mammogram, biopsy, specialist appointment)?
Support offered
- Hospital/Home visiting
- Informed understanding of treatment options and choices
- Understanding different health services to ensure the client receives appropriate services
- Advocating between health/community social services/Palliative Care/GP services to ensure best health outcomes
- Offering kaumatua/kuia and cultural support
- Understanding your cancer and its treatment
- Assisting with whanau needs
